The Art of Becoming Harley Quinn From Suicide Squad: A Makeup Tutorial by Eyedolize Makeup

I have been incredibly excited about creating this makeup look for almost a year! When I saw the first preview of Suicide Squad I started planning this look and it took every piece of willpower in me to wait this long to do it! But I knew that it was going to be a great look for this coming Halloween and so I wanted to release it now for those of you planning on becoming HARLEY QUINN for Halloween 2016!

Previous Harley Quinn makeup looks have included heavy white-based face, a mask and patterned outfit.

She has been given a HUGE makeover to feature in Suicide Squad and it includes a more natural, but pale complexion, pink and blue "structured messy" eyeshadow, dip-dyed pigtails and a rebellious
ensemble to match.

In this tutorial I show you how to re-create this incredibly bad-ass look!

You can find my video tutorial on how to complete this look here: Suicide Squad Series - Harley Quinn Makeup Tutorial

Or alternatively read the steps below.

Start with a clean face (it's okay if you have a little moisturiser on), apply primer over the face and rub it in well.

Apply dots of moisturiser of the face but do not rub them in. Take the white creme stick makeup and apply it all over the face, but roughly.

Then taking a large blending brush, blend the creme stick white face paint and the moisturiser together. Using the moisturiser as a mixer is going to assist the white face paint to spread evenly over the whole face, neck and top of the chest.

Once all areas are covered and the paint has set, take a neutral powder and apply it over the entire are with face paint on it. And I'm also using that neutral set to "bake" under my eyes, around my nose and on my chin - you can find the tutorial for how to bake here.

Next taking a medium grey eyeshadow, apply it as a contour to the cheeks, under the jaw line and down the sides of the nose. Using a grey will act as a good contrast to the white - it would not look right to use bronze or tan colours for this.

Then use a slightly lighter grey eyeshadow to fill in the eyebrows - Harley Quinn does not have super light eyebrows in the movie so don't worry if your brows are a bit darker than the bleach blonde wig

😉

Next comes the eyeshadow, you will need a pink and a blue. And you need to apply the eyeshadow over the entire eyelid, but don't go too much higher than the crease line. Then drag the eyeshadow down onto the cheek and do a few lines this way until you reach the middle of the underneath of your eye. Apply a thin line of black liquid liner to the top lash line, ending in a small flick. And apply a black pencil eyeliner under the lower lash line and smudge it using your finger.

Apply a small amount of black mascara to the top and bottom lashes, and use some natural lashes to finish the eyes - Harley Quinn does NOT have heavy eye makeup whatsoever so try to keep it fairly lift (apart from the pink and blue eyeshadows).

Going back in with the black liquid liner, write the word "ROTTEN" down the jaw line and also add a small black heart to the top of the cheek.

Next line the lips with a dark red lip liner and fill the lips in using this color as well. Filling them in will help hold the colour for longer. Once you've done that apply a dark red lipstick over the top.

I have also completed this look with a small amount of body paint. Using a red body paint I drew an outline of the neckline of the t-shirt, as well as a horizontal red line across the chest. Then filled in that entire area with the same colour.

Next I took a white body paint and applied it directly below that red paint and filled that area as low as I wanted to take the paint.

I added thin lines of a mixture of black and red paints the whole way around the edge of the red area (about 1cm from the edge), to create the look of seams on the shirt. I also applied to diagonal lines parallel to each other inside those seam lines, and then smudged out the edges of them. This created the look of a crease in the material.

The last step is to pop the wig on!

I will be completely more character looks in my Suicide Squad Makeup Series over the next few weeks, so make sure you're subscribed to my Blog or YouTube channel to get notifications when they're released!
